1. Lateral Surface Area is the surface area of the figure, excluding the area of the bases. So in case of a cylinder we are not including the top and bottom circular bases. We simply are finding area of the shape..

Where r is radius and h is height

2 Total Surface Area is the lateral surface area (see above) + the two areas of the circular bases.
FORMULA: T.S.A.=2πrh+2πr^2
