TEACHERS’ EXPECTATIONS
In order to have a successful school year, we have several expectations and guidelines to help you reach your maximum potential. Our job, as your teachers, is to do everything in our power and ability to ensure your success as students. Therefore, we are dedicated and committed to providing quality instruction and guidance for each individual student while improving the overall learning experience for the entire class. We expect every student to come to class prepared with a positive attitude and to become active participants. We also expect students to complete their homework and other class assignments promptly and with their best effort.
The skills we practice this school year will help you develop characteristics that will impact you for the rest of your career as a student and as you become an adult. One of the ways for us to have a successful school year is to ensure that there is order within the classroom. An orderly and clean classroom will be maintained at all times.
Below are the guidelines that every student is expected to follow at all times.
Welcome back to school!

Junior High Staff’s GUIDELINES
- Respect each other and the learning environment
- Everyone is expected to demonstrate respect towards all people: This includes classmates, teachers, administrators, and guests.
- Everyone must be respectful of classroom supplies, school property and other individual’s property. This means if you borrow something, please return it in the condition you received it.
- Everyone must be respectful of the classroom learning environment, which includes refraining from any conduct that will disrupt other students’ ability to learn or the teacher’s ability to teach. This also means to keep your hands, feet and other objects to yourself.
2. Be Prepared
- For every class you are expected to have your class materials and are ready to learn. Every day you will have your pencil bag, assignment notebook, homeroom folder and your independent reading novel, and subject specific materials on your desk as soon as you are seated.
- All homework assignments will be completed at home and not in school. Students will not be permitted to work on assignments for other subjects unless given permission by the classroom teacher.
3. Listen when others are talking – ONE VOICE
- One of the most important ways we will learn this year is through classroom discussions, but classroom discussions are only helpful when we listen to each other before we provide our feedback. Everyone will be welcome to share their opinions, so please be patient and respectful, and listen to your classmates or teacher. It will help make our classroom a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone.
- Also included in this rule is listening and following directions the first time they are given. Listening is an important skill to possess. Therefore, we ask that you listen for directions or instruction to avoid confusion. Please do not assume that what you are doing is correct. It will only cause frustration and that will prevent us from meeting our learning goals.
4. The teacher dismisses the class, not the bell
- This means that at the end of the period or day, you remain seated until the teacher gives you permission to leave. Then you are expected to follow the dismissal procedure. Please remember that Epiphany follows a silent Hall Policy.
- As older students, you will set examples for the younger grades to follow because you will be looked upon as leaders and role models.
