Please watch my video presentation of lesson 1 in Chapter 8. I only go over half of the lesson. Please then complete problems a-c, pages 590-591.
We are skipping ahead to CHAPTER 8. We will come back to Chapter 7, later. Chapter 8 is on Volume and Surface Area. This chapter begins with an Inquiry Lab, which asks the question "How are some three-dimensional figures related to circle?" Please read and conduct this Inquiry Lab, pages 587-588 and send a picture of both completed pages in Google Drive Folder or email. If you have questions or concerns you can contact me via email. I'm also available in Google Hangouts before noon.
Today is an open book test. Please take your time. Go back in the textbook, if you don't remember. The test is a PDF document. You can write your answers on loose leaf, take a picture, and share in Google drive or email me.
Today, I would like to set as a catch-up day. If you are behind on some of the assignments, please spend this time finishing up your work. Also, go to IXL website (see your login information from yesterday's post) and continue working on the skills I have recommended for you. You don't need to overwhelm yourself, but I can see that the time spent on the problems ranges from 2 minutes to 45 minutes. I'd suggest at least 15-20 minutes of practice. If you have finished my recommended skills, please choose other skills that you feel you should still practice - use the guidance provided on the website to help you.
Today, it's time to review and to perfect the skills. So, I ask you to work on IXL website today. It's a free resource site for you for the time being - take advantage of this wonderful site.
Go to: www.ixl.com/signin Find your log in and password information below. Once you log in find "SKILLS SUGGESTED BY YOUR TEACHER." There you should find three skills I've selected for you to work on. Please complete your work If you make a mistake, the website will guide you through the thinking process, so please read the guide, if needed. No need to submit anything today because I'll be able to see who's done what. Today, watch the video - this is a summary and further explanation of the lesson from yesterday. It is worth watching! After watching the video, please complete Independent Practice 1-6, pages 491-492. Today, you will study dilations. Please watch my slide presentation of the lesson, where I go over the examples from pages 488-489 and some additional examples. Then, complete guided practice 1-3 page 490 - email or drop them your Google Drive folder. If you haven't watched the videos from Tuesday and Wednesday, I recommend that you watch them. Thank you to all that are turning in assignments. Today please answer H.O.T problem 8 on page 480. It's a good problem to think about because-hint- you have to think backwards Show me your thinking, graph the images. Send me a picture of your work. Then, write a response to question 10, page 480 in ACE format. Please justify your answer, show proof (example, picture, etc.). You can write your response right here. In today's videos I go over the problems from yesterday. If you need further instruction on rotations please view it. In the video I go in detail about yesterday's problems a-b and Guided Practice 1-2. Sorry about the close up of my hands :) After watching the video complete Independent Practice page 479 (1-5).
