Today you will read about the Venerable Matt Talbot. He is not yet a canonized saint, but his spiritual life was thought to be exemplary for us. Matt Talbot was an alcoholic who struggled with his addiction for many years. But prayer, fasting, and almsgiving have helped him fight his addiction. (By the way - prayer, fasting and almsgiving are three spiritual practices the Church recommends that we do during LENT - do you do them?)
Please read about Matt Talbot on page 186 in your textbook. I am also including a link to an article and audio recording from Franciscan Media. Please listen to or read the short article.

Matt Talbot's plan of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving helped him get sober and stay sober. In the comments, make a list of three ways that prayer, fasting, and almsgiving could change your life for the better.
